We’re thrilled to announce that as of 18 September, Godalming Minster has a new rector to oversee the mission and ministry of our Christian community. Rev Chris Lion will be instituted this week by the Rt Revd Bishop Paul Davies and installed and inducted by the Ven Catharine Mabuza at a service in Godalming Minster Church Street with members from the Minster and local Godalming Community to celebrate his new ministry. Everyone is welcome to the service at 7.30pm and to stay for refreshments afterwards.
Chris grew up in Godalming. His first permanent job was teaching, and he and his wife, Charlotte, met through teaching together. They now have five children: Judah, Liberty, Miriam, Nathan and Naomi.
Chris trained for ordination at St Mellitus College; and he has subsequently ministered in churches in Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, and Newark. Chris loves sport, and also enjoys music, photography, and travel. Above all, he is passionate about enabling individuals to get to know, and grow in love for, Jesus.
After Thursday Chris will be getting to know his new flock, worshipping with each of the congregations over the coming weeks and meeting the staff and ministry team. His family are already at work and play, starting new schools and joining in with the children’s groups. We can’t wait to welcome ad get to know them!
